Jon McBride & Northern Spy – Gritty, greasy, and downright celebratory bayou-steeped street funk, west coast boogaloo and acid jazz.
After several years playing on cruise ships in the Caribbean, I moved to California where I played clubs and festivals up and down the west coast with several different bands including the Sugar Daddy Swing Kings, Shambhala, SLO Jazz (Elbo Room, Boom Boom Room, Cafe Du Noord, Brown Derby, House of Blues, The Lighthouse, Crystal Bay Casino, Moe’s Alley, Belly Up Tavern, Live Oak Music Festival, Elysium Festival, Santa Monica Pier Concerts, Hollywood & Highland, etc). In 1999, I settled in Los Angeles and worked extensively as a founding member of The Gumbo Brothers and the Mudbug Brass Band. Since 2013, I have been living in Burlington, Vermont. This project brings together friends and influences from New Orleans, Los Angeles and Burlington.
